Attention Hillside parents and families, Hillside Public Schools is hosting a Family Resource Night on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023! There will also be a Flu Vaccination clinic on-site, hosted by the Union County Board of County Commissioners @unioncountynj. Join us at the Ola Edwards Community School gymnasium from 4 - 6 p.m.! Technical assistance with the Parent Portal, the Free and Reduced Meal Application, Payschools, and more will be provided. "Each day of the week has its own theme, during which public-school community members and workers are celebrated! Shout out to Ms. Altenor at Ola Edwards Community School for sharing these photos! Students collaborated to test how different surfaces affect the speed and distance of a ball. Students created a kick system to simulate a soccer kick on different surfaces. They tested a golf ball's distance after a "kick" on sandpaper, carpet, and "wax-covered" carpet to replicate a soccer ball being rolled on concrete, grass, and a gym floor! Students chose which variables stayed the same vs. which ones changed. Even the rain couldn't stop the multitude of Hillside community members from packing out the Ola Edwards Gymnasium for the Hispanic Heritage Festival! It was an amazing day for Hillside Public Schools, there were food trucks, painters, artists, bouncy houses, balloon animals, games, music and more. Hillside Public Schools' teachers and staff have gone above and beyond to recognize Hispanic Heritage Month in our district. The list of administrators and leaders to thank for today is nearly endless, but we'd like to especially say thank you to World Language Supervisor, Ms. Evelyn Okparaeke and Ms. Marisol Rivera for all of their continuous hard work!
